Washington County's sanctuary for survivors transitions from Family Justice Center to Family Peace Center, with new name and location
HILLSBORO, Ore. — After four years of thoughtful collaboration, design and construction, what was once the Family Justice Center has become the Family Peace Center of Washington County, a place to provide safety, hope and healing for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.
The move to a new, larger location with three floors and 22 partners comes after input from the Survivor Advisory Committee, expanding upon what the Family Justice Center was able to accomplish.
Now, Executive Director Rachel Schutz says, there's a lot more under one roof. They're expected to serve more than 10,000 survivors every year.
"We have so much more depth of services, so many more agencies, which have so much more to offer because they have more staff," explained Schutz. "We have all of these different things that are really working in tandem with each other so that it's not just a one-stop shop, but it's coordinated and it all works together to make sure that it's increasing that access for people and it's also increasing that feeling of people wrapping around them."
